Expanded Senior Slo-Pitch Association Minimum Safety Standard To Play

[Expanded Senior Slo-Pitch Association]

ESSA Minimum Safety Standard and Player Rating for Rookie Evaluation

Slo-pitch has some major safety concerns and the Association needs to provide a safe environment for all its players.

For safety purposes and to ensure rookies aren't putting themselves or the Association in an unsafe position, all rookies must meet a very basic rating of six out of twenty points in order to be considered as an ESSA participant. Any new player with a rating of five or under is not eligible to join the ESSA.

All evaluators must take this into account and must look very closely at all rookie evaluations.

Be aware that a one in each category is the lowest rating that can be given to a player and there are four categories for a total of twenty.

A player that achieves a four would mean that the player is not able to run, catch, hit and throw.

All existing players shall be grandfathered, regardless of their rating. Captains and players need to be aware of these players and ensure these players are not placed in unsafe positions.
